That’s it, folks. Pennsylvania has been called for Biden. The end of Trump’s cancerous influence over the nation looms large, and we can collectively breathe a sigh of relief. It’s my hope that we can mend as a nation, figuring out a way forward that disavows the hateful ethnic nationalist rhetoric he espoused. I greatly look forward to making racists afraid again. They need to crawl back into their holes to hide. Now is not their time to shine. It wasn’t in 2016, either, yet we found ourselves in the predicament we did. I don’t expect Biden to be a great leader, but I at least expect him to lead. Trump didn’t even do that. He failed consistently, made excuses constantly, and eroded the values I thought our nation once held.

I feel a need to publicly effuse about where I am in life right now. In the midst of being a parent, being a career-minded person, and just being myself; There is one aspect of my life eclipsing and enhancing everything else. I am completely and fully in love. I’ve found in someone my intellectual better, incredibly generous, optimistic, empathetic, hilarious, fun-loving, and just so amazing. And-the-sex-oh-my-god. I’ve found my soulmate. I don’t just know it. I feel it deep in the fiber of my being. I’ve found someone to give myself completely to, that enthralls me to share life with, that I can expose the complete depths of myself to. Words fail me in enumerating what I feel right now. It feels so vast and encompassing and yet as incredible a sensation as it is; not intimidating at all. I’m going to marry this woman, my woman, my best friend, my partner for life and soulmate, and there is no hesitation. I love you, Amber. I’m by far not the only person who realizes what an incredible human being you are, but I’m the person who gets to complete you. That is an incredible source of pride for me, because I don’t know anyone who gets to share in what we share.

The anxiety is running high. We’re careening headfirst into the next chapter of this nation, and the next few days will determine whether we begin to heal as a nation or we continue to scratch our heads in wonder at how people can unapologetically support fascism and the destruction of our constitution. It’s also really interesting when people call descriptions such as mine ‘hyperbole’ when constitutional scholars are aghast by Trump’s time in office. But that’s the lowest common denominator; the one with no respect for their betters. The fool who dropped out of school in the eighth grade and thinks he knows better than doctors, refusing to wear masks, asserting his ‘rights’ everywhere and that everyone else are merely sheep. Scum, completely unredeemable scum.

I’ve been watching The Alt Right, Boogaloo Boys, and other undesirables’ activity online. I’ve been at it for some time now. In all reality, I’ve probably consumed more of material than they do. I don’t monitor them because I care about them, agree with them, or enjoy their ideas. On the contrary, I find them to be utterly repulsive as people. They strike me as being lesser creatures, if I’m being completely honest. But I find it important that someone keep an ear to the ground on their trends. My reasoning here is not without merit. I’ve surveilled numerous Telegram extremist channels for over a year now, and I’m considering busting out Evernote and compiling everything I’ve seen so far in either a single long blog post or multiple blog posts spanned over the course of a few months. I intend to dig up what I can about where these people come from, what their occupations are, and possible root causes behind why they are the way they are. I know that I’ll answer maybe one of those questions or none of them, but I feel like I should at least make the attempt to document what’s out there and how easy it is to find yourself in the midst of American extremists. I think it’ll prove to be interesting and hopefully informative.

Finally I have something technical to contribute. God dammit. So I’ve decided to embark on a journey of pushing software called thelounge to it’s breaking point. I’m running it on a raspberry pi 4 with 4GB of RAM and little much else to do except placate me. I set it up to record -1 lines of buffer and I’m connected to a bouncer that’s on multiple networks with a handful of channels on each network. Some are large volume channels with lots of comms.

Life will sure throw curveballs. It seems like it’ll throw them every chance it gets. Sometimes those curveballs can cut you down, make you feel like less than you are. And some of those curveballs will build you up. They’ll remind you that despite your best effort, there will be no concrete plans in this crazy thing we call existence. At least, none that don’t require some “dressing” or clever maneuvers. COVID was something to blindside us all. The failed federal response to COVID, doubly surprising, and even more disappointing. Under Trump we’ve seen over 200,000 deaths that likely did not need to happen. Trump is merely an extension of “old money”, the Americans in the top one percent who regard us as cattle. I didn’t realize just how little we mean to the elite until they saw fit to throw us directly in harm’s way using their poster child, Donald J. Trump. COVID is a disaster, Trump’s response to it a complete disaster, and if he manages to squeeze out enough votes to get a second term we’ll see nothing more than more disaster with him at the helm. It wouldn’t surprise me, in all honesty.

Since the RIAA is getting Microsoft to delete the popular download utility youtube-dl from Github and every fork that exists is also being removed, I figured I’d host it myself. They haven’t stopped hosting it themselves, but I figured they could use some vocal support. Fuck the RIAA, fuck Microsoft, and fuck Github.
