Went out drinking with work friends the other night. Completely made an ass of myself and threw up in a beer glass. Well, mostly. The portions that didn’t make it into the beer glass made it on my pants, then the floor. Damn. I’m too fucking old. I used to be able to hang, but it seems like old age is finally ripping into me. That shit goes deep, too. Down to the bones, so it seems.

Man, I feel like I’m getting way too old. Went out drinking with friends last night, wound up drinking way too much and making an ass of myself in pretty much every way conceivable. Even threw up in an empty beer glass. Got some on my pants. Just not a great sight all around. Had to call in sick at work because there’s no way I’m making it into the office in this condition. I’m barely alright remaining vertical long enough to bang out this post. Blegh.

Strangest thing to hit my newsfeed today is that the lunatic fringe in Michigan is advocating for a candidate for Secretary of State, a Kristina Karamo.

Hoo boy. This one’s a fucking doozy.

I want my freedom.’ So you’re sacrificing that child hoping to get something out of their death, which is your freedom, your happiness, your prosperity.”

Jesus fucking Christ. OK, so I’ve fixed my implementation of the “Even” theme. Turns out, as most problems do, it boiled down to “PEBKAC”. That’s right- Problem exists between keyboard and chair.

So, in my infinite wisdom, I had adjusted my config.toml to use language codes as most folks know them: "en-US". Right? Riiiiight?

NO. I said no.

In Hugo world, or at least this template’s build, languages are just “en” or “es” or whatever the fuck you speak.

I’m going to make this very clear from the outset: Google has every right to refuse to crawl/link to my content. It’s their choice as a company to decide what content is acceptable.

Google has decided that certain content is not appropriate for the masses.

That said, I do believe a government database should also exist that mirrors the functionality of Google, but by law is required to accept data from any US source. It should be searchable by citizens and should not be censored. In the very least, it’s likely the opposing databases would cover the gaps and produce a whole subset of internet search results.

I was originally going to write with some sort of purpose or intent, but I decided against it last minute. Instead, I’m going to do my usual attention-deficit trouncing of rationality. Not that what I write is meaningless, but it’s always better if I don’t try to pretend I can stay on topic for longer than five minutes. I mean, comfort-wise, when writing. Not that the result is so much better. I’m sure cohesive text is always more pleasant to peruse than the jumbled spaghetti I end up throwing into the ether.

According to Reuters’ latest reportings, Judge David A. Faber has found distributors of opiate medications (Namely McKesson Corp, AmerisourceBergen, and Cardinal Health) not responsible for fueling the raging opioid epidemic in West Virginia.

Considering recent events involving the Sackler family, it makes one wonder if the drug distributors are just really good at obscuring their criminal behavior or if David A. Faber is going to retire really cushy on Pharmaceutical kickbacks. The recent judgement of David Faber really doesn’t give a lot of hope to Americans that justice is actually available to them.

I think I originally had a plan for this post, then jumped the shark shortly after I wrote the first sentence and subsequently hated it. It’s fine. Whatever. If I don’t get around to writing that out today I’ll bang it out eventually. God knows this thing never ends. It won’t stop, can’t stop, isn’t stopping for anything.

I’ve noticed that coming by actual good memes these days is really difficult. Your average meme-sharing platform is rife with awful opinions and sad excuses for comedy, and I’m having a hard time finding the good stuff. Reddit is a veritable wasteland of comedy with morality police shutting down even a minor whiff of laughter. 4chan looks really tired these days. Really, really tired. It’s nothing but “race war” instigation and pretty much every sort of debauchery you can imagine. Facebook was never good, and I’ll never use that pile of shit ever again. Telegram is basically just where actual 4chan nazis go to talk about how “(((they))) want to control society with vaccines” or other such similar nonsense. I guess I’m just out of touch with the meme scene. And don’t get me started on Instagram. If you suggest Instagram as a source of memes then you’re even more out of touch than I am.
